HELICAL SCREW PILES

What Are Screw Piles?

Screw piles (also called helical piles) are steel foundation shafts with helical plates welded along the length, installed by rotating them directly into the ground using hydraulic drive machinery. Think of them like a giant screw being driven into the earth — fast, precise, and incredibly strong.

Why Choose Screw Piles?

Compared to traditional foundation methods like concrete footings or driven piles, screw piles offer a number of real advantages:

  • Speed — Most installations are completed in hours, not days. No curing time, no waiting. Your project keeps moving.

  • No excavation required — Minimal ground disturbance means less mess, less backfill, and less restoration work after the fact.

  • All-season installation — Unlike concrete, screw piles can be installed year-round, even in frozen Alberta ground.

  • Immediate load bearing — Piles are ready to build on the same day they're installed.

  • Environmentally friendly — No concrete spoils, no chemicals, and fully removable if ever needed.

  • Consistent and verifiable — Load capacity is confirmed in real time through installation torque readings, giving you confidence in every pile.

Pricing & Load Capacity

Standard stock pile pricing starts at $415/pile. Our stock piles are typically installed up to 5,000 ft-lbs of torque, supporting the following capacities based on standard soil assumptions:

  • Compression: 63 kN / 14,220 lbs

  • Tension: 52 kN / 11,697 lbs

Soil conditions vary by site. A site-specific assessment may be recommended for projects with unique load requirements or challenging ground conditions.
